Don’t you just love those five day
breaks you get on Thanksgiving? Yea, they’re awesome. Thanksgiving should be
more than just sleeping in, eating a lot, and hanging out with friends. It
should be about spending time with family and keeping traditions.
A tradition most families have is to
simply get the family together to eat. Common food choices include: turkey,
stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, cornbread, mashed potatoes, and they eat pie
for dessert. Vegetarian families would almost eat the same things, except that
their turkey is made out of Tofu. Families don’t just eat though; some will
watch T.V, do some activity outdoors, or others just stay inside and play cards
or something along those lines. Some just like to stay in and talk about the
good times, probably too full to even get up!
While those families worry about the food
they’re going to cook, others are worrying about how much they’re going to
spend because they travel for Thanksgiving. Some families just travel and go on
a little vacation or to visit family members; after all, family time is the
most important thing during the holidays.
For some families Thanksgiving is
all about helping others. They will go to facilities or homes to help the
needy, that’s their way of showing they’re grateful for the things they have
and would like to give the less fortunate a little of what they have.
Traditions vary from family to family. Every
family is different, and that’s what makes every holiday so special. What do
you do on Thanksgiving
