1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Breast cancer is the second greatest cancer behind skin cancer. Breast cancer is in most cases found in the lobule (glands that produce breast milk) and ducts (tubes that carry milk from the lobule to the nipple). In rarer cases it can be found in the fatty tissues also known as stromal tissues. There are two groups of breast cancer noninvasive- remains in the breast and invasive- breaks through the breast tissue and enters other parts of the body through blood vessels and lymph nodes, the name of this process is called metastasis. Breast Cancer happens when cancerous tumors start to form. Breast Cancer can develop when cell growth doesn’t go right, new cells forming when they are not needed, and when old or damaged cells do not die as they should. Some symptoms of breast cancers are nipple discharge other than breast milk, pain in any part of the breast, change in appearances in one or both breasts, irritated or itchy breast, change in breast color, and breast lumps or thickening.
