The soccer team at Joliet Central High school coached by E. Contreras this season have improved on competitively level. Soccer is a very competitive sport to be played they have to understand how to be competitive in positive ways and not negative. In soccer there is not a common injury the team has been suffering from many ankle sprains and knee sprains. No single girl on the soccer team is harder working then another they all are equal and improve in skill at practice. All the girls get along so that’s a positive. “I love the girls’ attitude and work ethic. They bring an energy that I love to see every day at practice. The look in their faces this year on how much we have improved is priceless. I love the reaction of our opponents who previously blown us out but to see their reaction when my girls are playing toe to toe with them is also priceless.” Replied Contreras when asked why he decided to coach the girls’s soccer team. The girls are known as role models for the rest of the school. One of the team’s goals is for all of our players to be academically eligible for the whole season.” states Couch Contreras. No players this year have gotten scholarships for soccer this season but last year Yessica Reyes got a scholarship and is playing at St. Francis. The captions for the varsity soccer team are Stephanie Cardenas, Gabrielle King, and Kathia Arredondo. They make great leaders and we hope all of the girls will continue to improve with their help.
