What’s not to like about a Friday night football game? Good food, great crowd, and plenty of school spirit. One thing that tops everything else is the football team. The varsity football team that is. Varsity competed on a high level but was out performed by Thornridge. In the first quarter the game was even, but towards the end of the quarter the Thornridge Falcons scored a 51 yard touchdown. The score was 6-0. The game went all downhill from there. By the end of the game, the score was 33-0. The Falcons swooped in on the victory. The question is, how our mighty Steelmen will bounce back from this devastating loss. On the bright side, JV stole the show Saturday morning , by a one point margin. For the first time in years, JV got their hands raised as the victors. When asked for his thoughts on the game, the athletic director Mr. Locke said, “My expectations for the game were to provide a safe environment for the first ever Friday night game on central campus.” All teams will continue to grow and try to meet the expectations of the coaches. Opening the season Friday night was a very exciting experience for all but especially for the teams who performed. Can the Steelmen bounce back and get a win, or will it turn into a long painful season for Joliet Central? And will JV suffer the same fate as varsity, or will they steal the show from varsity?
