The 2014 – 2015 Joliet Central girls’ basketball team has a very talented group of girls. From freshman level, junior varsity level, and varsity level, basketball is these girls passion. Specifically, the varsity team has had a very successful season. Their goal as a team is to strive during practice to their best abilities after school, to eventually lead to success during their games and tournaments. During the season, the girls try to promote good leadership, positivity, and maturity. By managing exceptional academic performances and good behavior, this year’s varsity girl basketball team has set a very good example to the lower level teams. Their season started November 2014 and ended recently in the end of February 2015. Captains, Jeanell Dorhman, Gerhyrah Grant, Chantell Mack, and Morgan Jones lead the team to a successful season with 10 wins and 16 loses. Also, having their best conference Joliet Central has had since the split to West and Central, this seasons varsity team had 6 wins and 7 loses in the SWSC. Focusing on hard work, determination, and heart, the girls this season did great! Explaining this season’s girls basketball team, head coach, Brian Reed says, “We were a young team with nine juniors and three seniors and we should be even better next season. We started in November and ended in February. This season was a roller coasters with a lot of ups and downs, but there were no other people in this world I would have wanted to take that ride with.” Now, the season is officially over. Seniors, Jeanell Dorhman, Autumn Lawson, and Gerhyrah Grant, have a great impact on the younger girls for the following season after all three of them graduate in May 2015. The girls’ definitely came together and worked very hard for their success this season.
