On May 25th, 1997, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released to theaters with a box office of $775.4 million. It was one of the biggest movies ever created and one of the most successful. Soon after, Episodes 5 and 6 were released. Later on in 1999, Episode 1 was created, providing more detail on the adventures of Luke Skywalker’s father, Anikan Skywalker and the story behind the creation of Darth Vader. Later on, Episodes 2 and 3 were released and Star War’s fans were left hanging at the end of the series. On October 30th, 2012, Disney bought the rights to Star Wars for $4.05 billion. That’s more than the box office of the Episode 4! Then, just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Disney announces that they are creating a brand new Star Wars film to be released on December 18th, 2015. Well all of you Star Wars fans are in luck, because that’s this year! Star Wars: The Force Awakens is rumored to be one of the biggest box offices and films of the year, but not everyone agrees. Some people are spectacle that Disney will ruin the film and it’s story line, while others are just happy that there’s another Star Wars movie and that of being Episode 7. Fans also talk about their own theories about the movie, like how the main character Rey (Dailey Ridley) is said to be Han Solo’s and Princess Leia’s daughter. Whatever the case, we just need to wait just a little longer. Let’s hope director J.J. Abrams gets it right and doesn’t disappoints fans and George Lucas. Where will you awaken the force?
