Marvel Studios released Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in theaters on September 3, 2021. The movie follows Shang Chi, son of the bearer of the mystical Ten Rings Xen Wenwu. After Wenwu’s old enemies attack and kill his wife in their own home, he swears revenge and forms the Ten Rings organization. Shang Chi is trained to be an assassin, sent out to kill his mother’s murderers. After leaving on the mission, Shang Chi never returns, residing in San Francisco working as a valet. He lived peacefully in San Francisco until he and his friend Katy were attacked by a member of the Ten Rings organization. Thinking his sister Xialing is in trouble, he returns to China, confused as to what the situation is. It is there that he finds out more about his mother’s past and how he could use it to stop the Dweller in Darkness. The movie doesn’t end there, as Marvel provided not one, but two post-credit scenes. In the first one, it shows Shang Chi now being connected to the Avengers, possibly introducing a new villain as well. The second post-credit scene shows Xialing taking the throne of the Ten Rings organization. However, she takes a different approach compared to her father. Her father would never let her learn martial arts or weaponry, so she taught herself. Now as the new leader, the majority of the organization is now female-lead. Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings left audiences stunned and amazed at the introduction of a new Avenger. Shang Chi is now adored by many fans, who hope to see more of him in the future.
