Still Over It Review

Raven Jackson

Summer Walker released her sophomore album Still Over It on November 5, 2021, which contains 20 tracks. The album takes us on a ride through a toxic and complicated relationship between her and her partner, which ended very terribly. For a bit of background, before becoming a music artist she was a dancer and had her own cleaning company. She began putting out her music in 2015 with the song “Like Me” with the music artist Dimitri, but unfortunately, didn’t do well. She released “Session 32” on April 4, 2018 which got over 1.5 million spins and quickly sparked her career. She starts gaining more and more followers on her social media.

Due to her gaining popularity she released her mixtape “Last Day of Summer” on October 19th 2018, with the leading single “Girl Need Love”. This song gained so much popularity that the famous rapper Drake even made a remix to it! She placed #8 in R&B artists on Apple Music. Her first studio album came out October 2019 titled “Over it”, earning  #2 on the US Billboard 200. Due to that, she was nominated for Top R&B album and Top R&B Female Artist, which she won. During this time she was in a relationship with London on da Track. On the media everything looked good, but in reality that was not the case.

Throughout her new album she talks about her feelings and what happened during and after her relationship with London. The lead single “Ex for a Reason” featuring City Girls, was co-produced by the R&B singer, songwriter and record producer Sean Garrett. The song has a sleek hook and bubbly production similar to Garrett’s early-2000s hits. The album also features popular music artists, such as SZA, Lil Durk, Pharrell Williams, The Neptunes, Omarion, Ari Lennox and many more. Overall, Still Over It is a great album to listen to while doing almost anything, 100% would recommend!
