Going into 2nd Semester

Jocelyn Montesinos

Over Winter Break, there were a few changes and new additions to Joliet Central. Central offers new opportunities to help students with grades. Like the Writing Center and Math tutoring. These rooms are available Monday- Friday. The Writing Center is available throughout all lunch periods and Math tutoring is offered during advisory periods 5a, 5b, 6a, 7a, and 7b. If you struggle with math or English, these rooms are here to help you. Students can get overwhelmed with all the work and personal issues. It’s normal for a student at any school to be a little stressed and Central wants to help with that by offering the Cool Down room. The Cool Down room for students who just need a little break from all the stress and anxiety. It is available during periods 2-7. In physical education, we are now required to wear new Steelmen shirts provided by the school and bring our own athletic shorts/pants. The weather is not very comforting or enjoyable right now. Instead of making up for the missing days at the end of the year, the school has come up with a better idea, E-Learning. With E-Learning, teachers assign work through Google Classroom and it’s the students responsibility to accomplish it. Also, students have to sign in into Exam Login for attendance from 9:30- 11:30 a.m. Take this new semester as a fresh start to work harder and do better.  Here is a small message from our assistant principal, Mr. Locke, “ Happy New Year and 2nd Semester Steelmen! I hope you are off to a great start this semester. Our ultimate goal for you at Joliet Central is to succeed in your classes, build positive relationships with peers and staff and get involved as much as possible in our extracurricular opportunities offered at JTHS. With that said, have a great semester and reach out to me when needed.”
