We’ve all sat through the entertaining skits in junior high persuading us to stay drug free. The program that provides these educational and entertaining skits is known as Reality Check. Reality Check is an acting group promoting kids to stay drug free and it is offered right here at Joliet Central.
What people don’t know is that once you join the program you have to sign a contract stating that you are remaining drug free. So you not only have to teach other children about staying drug free, but you have to demonstrate it in your own personal lives. Sean Miller and Meghan Townsend are the heads of reality check. They demonstrate drug free lives every day.
A lot of the rehearsals are based upon improvisation. This basically means you do not have to read through a boring script. You can actually interact with the other cast members and create lines as you go. You also have to be very committed to going to the practices. They will be counting on you to come to every practice so that the performances are perfect. Reality Check is an amazing opportunity to make friends, interact with kids and get two days out of school to perform! If you are interested in joining Reality Check see Mr. Peterson in room 284.
