When I attended the Hispanic culture assembly at JCHS my mind was completely blown by the many different performances I watched. I had absolutely no awareness that the Joliet Central High School Hispanic student body had such amazing talent. The vocals I heard from our students were outstandingly superb. Even though I am not fluent in the Spanish language, and could not understand the words I still enjoyed listening to the beautiful voices of the students. By the end of the second performance I was sitting at
the edge of my seat wondering what the following act could possibly bring. I thought it was neat and interesting how in the one dance they went around a poll with ribbon, making a braided pattern around it. It also warmed my heart when the dancers came out on stage partnered with one of their parents. I
thought this showed how important family is to the culture. Although I enjoyed that act a lot, my favorite one was by far the second to last performance. In this dance boys were lifting
girls and twirling them around as if they were a feather. The body strength
they must have possessed to do that had to be an extreme amount. The way the dancers moved made me realize how important dancing is in the Hispanic culture, and also made me want to get up
there and dance with them. Even though I saw a lot of dancing, and singing, and it seems this whole shindig was for pure entertainment. I actually learned a lot of thing I did not know. I
learned how many dances and songs are important to Hispanic culture and how much they mean. Dancing and singing is a huge part of the culture, and it seems to make them happy. Most of all I learned that over the years Hispanic culture has still stayed true to what it loves, and is the definition of devotion.
