Mr. J and Ms. J is a special accomplishment to receive
your senior year in high school. Well, this year on April 16th these
twenty-one lucky seniors will be judged on their character,
grade-point-average, resumes, and teacher recommendations. To be qualified you
have to have seven semesters of a 3.5 GPA or better. There will be a banquet
for these students congratulating them on their overall success.
I
interviewed one nominee for this award. When asked how Antoinette DeBenedetti
feels about being a nominee for this award she replied, “I was so surprised
when I received the letter saying I was a nominee, but I am also much honored
to be in this group of overall outstanding students. Also, I cannot wait for
the banquet. It is a very special moment in my life and I am happy to celebrate
it with all my fellow classmates and my family.”
I also asked Ms. DeBenedetti
how she felt about being interviewed and her response was “Well the interview
had way less pressure than I thought there would be with having 15 interviewers
surrounding me and asking all these questions. There was nothing that I was not
prepared for really because I heard stories from some of the senior nominees
last year. Most of the questions were based off of my resume so it was nothing
difficult.”
Overall, being nominated to
be a Mr. and Ms. J is one of the highest honors you can receive at Joliet
Central. You have to be an all-around outstanding student. So next time you
think about yelling at one of your teachers just remember they will be giving
you recommendations your senior year whether it be for college or even a Mr.
and Ms. J interview. May the odds be ever in your favor.
