This season the boy’s varsity basketball team is coached by Jeff Corcoran, also known as dean or coach Corcoran. Corcoran has been coaching boys’ basketball for fifteen years within the community. There are five assistant coaches: Brian Koehne, Britt Charley, Greg Smith, Michael Mines, and Michael Lutz.
Last year the boys varsity basketball team finished their season with a 7-19 record. The team had eight seniors and only one of them had varsity experience. The boys fought to reach a highlight in the McDipper Christmas Classic at Rich South High School going 2-2 and receiving the Sportsmanship Award. The senior that stood out to be named outstanding player was Senior Devonte Wright; MVP and All Conference Player. Darius Norris was one of the three captains named as well as Seniors Devonte Wright and Curtis Parker.
Coach Corcoran commented “Not the season we expected in the sense of wins and losses, but as a group we learned how to play Varsity basketball and I look forward to better things next year.” Monday November 7, 2011 was the boys’ basketball tryouts. Boys Basketball Blue and Gold scrimmage is on November 18, 2011 at 4:30 P.M. in the main gym. Come and support the team as
they face off against each other. Players at all levels are expected to be above average students and productive members of the community. It is the program’s goal that each member of the Joliet Central Boys Basketball Program graduates high school and attends college.
This season will be hard with the current demands of the conference and the competitive schedule in which the team participates in. All levels will practice every day and you must attend every practice. This schedule demands a partnership between parents and coaches, this collaboration is necessary for the program to reach any and all goals.
Hope to see you at the games!
