In our society today you can sit down in front of a computer and pull up your local newspaper in a couple of minutes, watch the TV and wait who knows how long for your news to show, or you could walk a couple blocks to the newsstand and it would take about ten minutes. Obviously using the internet is the fastest and easiest way to get your share of the news. This leads to the question: Is the internet taking over? The answer is yes. The majority of people’s lives revolve around the internet. Jobs, entertainment and relationships rely on it.
Just about every job that we have on earth today involves the internet. In 2003, 77 million people used the internet while working. You can imagine how the number has increased over the years. It’s also said that every 2 of 5 employees use the internet while on the job. This obviously shows how much the internet is taking over in the work force these days.
Pure entertainment can be found using the internet in just about every household. There are thousands of websites out there just for that. These days it seems teenagers spend most of their time on Facebook instead of reading a book or even watching TV. Older people or parents spend much time playing games on the internet like Farmville, and Cafe World.
These days, people even find the loves of their lives on the internet. To me, that’s just a major point that proves the internet is definitely taking over. I mean, if you go to the extremes of finding a spouse on the internet then it is obviously a huge part in our society. If you think about it, if they took away the internet, then things would get pretty hectic.
