Hopsin is an MC, producer, director, actor, and editor. He was in special education classes, so he didn’t think he had much of a future after high school. His teachers did nothing to help him at all and only told him that he would never accomplish anything, especially since he was learning nothing in the classes he was attending, so he dropped out of high school.
He then decided to become one of southern Cali’s premier MC’s. He got himself a microphone and installed fruity loops on his computer. Hopsin locked himself in his basement and didn’t come out until he realized his music and production was better than that what he heard on the radio. He soon gave himself a new image and style. He began wearing white eye contacts and got out from his basement and began sending his music to studios. Soon he landed a major record deal with Ruthless Records and came out with his freshman album “Gazing at the Moonlight” in October 2009.
He saw that he never would become famous with Ruthless, so he made his own label called Funk Volume. He later released his Sophomore album Raw. Ever since then he has made 60 concerts around the world, gained thousands of Facebook fans, had millions of Facebook views, and created Tech N9ne’s “All 6’s & 7’s” album with no one other than B.o.B. His new album comes out somewhere in 2012 and he says it’ll be a “game changer”!
In his music you can hear that he is against the drugs and alcohol that teens and adults do today. Unlike other artists in this genre (rap) who mostly sing about sex, drugs, money, thug life, and getting wasted. The Ill Mind of Hopsin 1 2 3 4 and 5 are about how messed up kids are today, how they brag about “they have all that swag”. For the women he responds on how they want a man like Romeo but that they will never get that man because they always dump that person for someone who is better looking and has lots of cash.
