Joliet Central High School will be performing the production of the musical Guys and Dolls! Staring Jared Ellis and Amber Clarke. Directed by Joe Hoyt and David L Jones, the musical Guys and Dolls is about a hip fly-by night gambler who charms a Salvation Army missioner into a 1,000 bet, and a big time showgirl wants to marry her fiancée after 14 years. Guys and Dolls is a Tony Award winner and based upon three short stories by the American author Damon Runyon. The creative minds and writers of this musical are Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling; whom came up with this brilliant idea of making a movie of a man accepting a bet to fall in love with a girl who is way out of his league. Oscar nominated and Tony Award winner Jo Swerling, is a theater writer, lyricist and screenwriter who successful made it into Broadway and his greatest professional success was the Broadway musical Guys and Dolls. Abe Burrows is a humorist, author and director for stage and radio. Abe had won four Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize as he made his way to success in directing and writing musicals in which he won 3 more awards for. The movie version starring the famous bachelor Frank Sinatra and co-starring Marlon Brando, who is one the greatest actors of all time, are brought together in action as their roles to play conceited men, and in which profoundly gave it all. Frank Sinatra is a singer, actor and producer; his music became popular and influenced many generations. Today many people still consider his music to be timeless. Marlon Brando is an American actor, film director and activist who created a realism to film acting; he concentrated on acting in movies as he continued to influence others and succeeding generations of acting. Therefore, if you or someone you know likes musical’s and genre of romance then Guys and Dolls is the Broadway musical for you!
