Rex Orange County is an indie artist who gained attention in 2017, thanks to his multiple features on Tyler the Creator’s album, Flower Boy. In 2020, his song Sunflower had gained mass amounts of attention through its spread on the popular social media platform, ‘TikTok’. Another single he released in 2020 did very well. His newest album, Who Cares?, soared to the top spot in the U.K.’s album chart after its March 11th release. This album also includes a feature from Tyler the Creator, proving that this duo is unstoppable. In a recent interview, he expressed his gratitude and spoke about how Tyler was a mentor figure to him, and we have Tyler to thank for this newest album.

The album is very bedroom pop, mellow, and overall a well produced album. His first released single from this album was KEEP IT UP and it was well received. Fans were excited to hear the rest of the album, and he did not disappoint. However, some fans were disappointed that the album steered away from the style of his two previous albums. Personally, I believe this was what made the album so much better. It feels as if he has truly found his style as an artist, and has learned the best way to express himself through music. This is an important step for an artist, and hopefully future albums follow the pattern of WHO CARES?

Overall, Rex Orange County’s newest album has received mostly positive reviews. It’s only been out for 10 days now, so we’ll see where it ranks in further time. It’s a no-skip album for me personally, and for many other fans as well. If you’re someone who enjoys mellow indie mixed with some energetic alternative, then this is an album made for you.
