Thornton Melon (Rodney Dangerfeild), is an established family man. As he grows increasingly concerned over his son’s college career, the street-smart millionaire gives Thornton’s son Jason (Keith Gordan). some advice. Though advice is given, Thornton gets the bright idea to attend college. However, Jason is trying to make it on his own and be recognized by his peers. Thornton then falls in love with his English teacher (Sally Kellerman), and Thornton “gets people to do his homework”, hence NASA–a suspicious business teacher who is in a relationship with Thorntons English teacher. Now coming up with a well devised plan to kick him out, the bell is about to ring. It’s time to get to class, and expand the mind?
Now, this is just truly funny–especially with the help of Rodney Dangerfeild. Overall this film is very well-written, and there’s some serious undertones of being accepted and finding your place in life. With a wide range of possible emotions to feel depending on the scenes, it makes this movie even more amazing. The jokes are spot on throughout the movie, however the acting is alright. I give the movie 9 bronze bars for acting, and a newly-introduced rating for comedy reviews. Because of the fact that comedy gets their own reviews, I will give it 8 gold bars. Lastly, for writing I give it 5 gold bars. I will see you the next time you want to come back to the movies!
