Dim Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks), has never thought of himself as less of a person, even though he is not as advanced as the rest. There’s all lot of appreciation for his mother (Sally Field ), as she’s always been in his corner since he was a kid. He has definitely had nothing but an exciting life. Whether it’s him being the star running back for the Ohio State Buckeyes, being a true hero in Vietnam and fighting for his country, or being a shrimp boat captain for his company Bubba Gump Shrimp, Forrest and his child- like mentality has inspired many. Even if it’s just something as simple as him playing Ping-Pong, he inspires. The one person that means most to him, Jenny ( Robin Wright), has to be saved on countless occasions. However, Forrest may not be able to officially save his sweetheart. And just like in the movie, “That’s all I have to say about that”.
talk about a home run of a film! This is the best example of a phenomenal dramedy. Robert Zemeckis truly encapsulates the true charm of Forrest Gump’s character, and how innocent he is, and how the situations he gets into are major moments in history. Additionally, the background shots are breathtakingly beautiful and picture-like, and the entire movie is shot incredibly. Writing that went into this movie invests you into Forrest’s story, as if you’re one of the people sitting on the bench listening to him. Tom Hanks does a Phenomenal job as the titular character, and the manner in which he makes the audience invested into the character. For example, the younger version of Forrest Gump (Micheal Conner Humphries), has an accent that Tom Hanks uses in the film which was actually Michael’s real voice. Tom Hanks simply just watched him and just listened to how he enunciated to get the voice down. Tom Hanks and Robert Zemekis truly cared for this film, and were even willing to cut back their own salaries to finish the film because Hollywood not allowing some of the scenes. So, if they never cut their salaries, no one would have seen such an outstanding film. I give this film 9 and a half gold bars for acting and 7 gold bars for directing. I will see you the next time you want to come back to the movies!
