The year is 1985 and senior in high school Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) wants to become a musician but doesn’t have enough confidence to send in a demo tape. Marty has a very strange friend, “Mad Scientist” Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) , and has built a time machine. When Doc gets Marty to see the time machine, a group of Libyan Terrorists try to kill Marty, and to escape, Marty gets sent back to 1953 when his own parents were in high school, and when Doc had just thought of what makes time travel possible? Well, time to get to class, don’t be a SLACKER!
Back to the Future is the movie that defined the 80’s, it is the ultimate throwback with a stacked cast, like Michael J. Fox, who was known for the television sitcom, Family Ties. Christopher Lloyd, who was known for the television sitcom Taxi, directed by Robert Zemeckis (who had also directed Forrest Gump and was produced by Steven Spielberg). The acting is good with Michael J. Fox doing a good job in this film even though he wasn’t the original choice for Marty, and that shooting had almost wrapped. Crispin Glover, the actor who plays Marty’s dad, was a handful. He would get in fights with different people on set, challenging people to arm wrestling matches. Then lastly, Lea Thompson, who plays Marty’s mom, was very good. She is a talented 80s brat pack actor, she is funny, and had starred in Red Dawn before this film. As well as the car that was the big deal for the film, the DeLorean was put out of business after the movie was made due to controversies on their logo, DMC, which was DeLorean motor company, and GMC, General motor company. Overall, it’s a great watch and a fun ride for the whole family. I give the film 9 silver bars in all, 8 silver bars for acting, 9 bronze bars for directing. I will see you the next time you want to come back to the movies. The next movie review will be the true story, the Great Escape, about U.S. soldiers who escaped a Nazi prison camp. I recommend you watch the film first and then read the movie review.
