Stepping into sophomore year as a new student in Journalism, not once did I ever think how far I could have advanced in these past 3 years. As every new student in Journalism we start as reporters, the students that write about things going on around us such as a soccer game, school event, or even a new movie premiere. Within 3 months of being in their program, I was offered the position of becoming a new editor. With being a first time editor, it was amazing to see how much work and time is put into making our 4 magazines. When it came time for the winter magazine, it was such a great feeling because not only was my article featured but I also got to be part of putting that issue together and many more. As my junior year started approaching, I moved up to managing editor. I worked alongside the Editor-in-Chief and had more responsibilities, such as distributing the articles to the editors, categorizing article ideas, and assigning articles. Little by little I started learning more and getting prepared to take on a new position. Now in my senior year I have the honor of being able to say I am a Co-Editor-in-Chief. With this new title I have, leadership plays a big role. Having 24 students and 3 editors to help guide their growth in this club is rewarding because you have the chance to see the students that will go far with their talent. Not only did I advance in position in this club, but I grew as a person because with every new milestone maturity, responsibility, and leadership skills started having more of a meaning, value, and a need to have.
