This is the 70 year anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is about the Japanese surprisingly attacking the American army and naval base on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The attack took place on a sunny Sunday morning. Pearl Harbor is located on the south coast of Oahu island; this attack was planned by the Japanese admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. He argued that “The United States was a dagger at Japan’s throat and must be destroyed”. The attack on Pearl Harbor caused more than 2,000 deaths and more than 900 people were injured. Also the Japanese thought that if they attacked Pearl Harbor they could stop the United States from increasing the influence in the pacific. The attack on Pearl Harbor was the worst thing Japan could have done to the United States. The main reason the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor was of the economic reasons. Japan was very desperate of their resources that they needed in the attack. They invaded Pearl Harbor because oil was mostly exported from the United States. As the result of this, a lot of people remember Pearl Harbor as a bad dream, but they don’t know how big it affected us. Some people commemorate Pearl Harbor by putting the flag at mid-staff from sunrise to sunset. Servicemen and servicewomen that survived the devastating day have memorials for their loved ones that have passed away. Also they built the memoriam of Pearl Harbor for tourists to come and remember the great pain that the United States went through on that terrible Sunday morning. Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day talks about all this, but at the end the United States has managed to deal with all this pain. But deep inside of every single person in the United States nobody will ever be able to erase the tragedy that happened on December 7, 1941.
