On January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia a small boy was born. This boy ended up being one of the greatest activists and one of the greatest leaders in the Civil Rights movement. The name of this boy is Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. is known by many people as the most important person during the Civil Rights movement, and is also known for his “I have a dream” speech. “I Have a Dream ” was delivered on August 28, 1963, during the march on Washington, this speech calling for a call of equality and freedom for all. Martin Luther King Jr. was a very important person to many people. They all looked up to him for what he was doing to have quality for everybody. He was key for the Civil Rights movement and helped many people. Martin Luther King Jr. even was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. He also organized one of the biggest boycotts of the time, he organized the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was started when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a White passenger and was sent to jail for not doing so. Martin Luther King Jr. then organized the Montgomery Bus Boycott, this boycott was made so African Americans in Alabama wouldn’t use the Cities busses, this boycott lasted an entire year. Many people would look up to Martin Luther King Jr. because of all of his actions that he took so everybody would have equality. He was taken into jail various times by doing so, but he always gave back to help everybody that needed help. Martin Luther King Jr. started helping the Civil Rights in 1955 until his tragic assasination in 1968. Martin Luther King Jr. left a mark on many people and a mark on history. He did this by helping everyone get rights and to everybody to be equal, he made a mark on history. So every year on January 15, Martin Luther King Jr. is remembered by who he was and what he stood for.
