Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic+Heritage+Month

In the month of September, Hispanic people tend to get celebrated since it is the Independence day of Mexico. The Independence day of Mexico gets celebrated on September 16 through the 27 of each year. The reason that Mexicans celebrate it is because that is when a war was happening between Mexico and Spain. The reason for the war between those 2 countries was because Spain was trying to conquer Mexico’s freedom. Since the Mexican government didn’t want to lose their freedom to Spain, they fought one another to death until they won. Which is why Mexicans celebrate their independence from September 16th all the way to the  27th because that is how long the Mexican soldiers had to fight for them to win.

Some events that happen every year when it is the Independence Day of Mexico is that there are parades which include women dancing to folklore. There are also a lot of beautiful decorations with different colors hanging everywhere and the Mexican flag on cars or other things. There are times where Mexican people also cook their own foods and have a feast with other of their family members. A good example of things that are done to celebrate the Independence day of Mexico is the parade that is going to happen on September 17th this Saturday in the community of Collins St. On Saturday there are going to be lots of women dressed in beautiful dresses with pretty designs on them while dancing to mariachi music so don’t miss it!
