High-Five Fridays started in 2019, but had to stop due to covid. Student council here at Joliet Central are attempting to bring it back! Students alike feel as though High-Five Fridays brings a sense of community and belonging to school, this gesture ensures everyone here at Central feels involved. There is a large group of students that feel alienated everyday and High-Five Fridays may give these students the recognition they seek.“I feel alone some days, and when Fridays hit I can look forward to a high five and it can make my day better and more cheerful.” Said by a student of Joliet Central High School. All while other students at Central believe that High-five Fridays could be a big health risk and ramp up Covid 19 cases again.
Our Goal
The purposes of the newspaper are to report school news accurately, objectively, and fairly; to establish a way for students and staff to express opinions by providing a letter to the editor; and to provide information through editorials, news, features, and sports. School news will be the main focus. Community, national, or international news may be covered when it has a special significance or
consequence for students.
