Coach of The Year

Jaliyah Houston, Reporter

The Joliet Central girls Basketball team had their best year since 2001, and this special season was coached by Laura Brumfiel. Coach Brumfiel was recently awarded coach of the year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. After coaching girls basketball for 7 years, Coach Brumfiel feels blessed and is very grateful for receiving her award, but feels as if the award should belong to all the coaches at this level at Joliet Central.  Brumfiel is a woman with a passion for basketball and is a positive role model for her team. She does it all, but she isn’t alone. She has many coaches by her side who helped her and her team along the way. Every coach apart of this season deserves to be recognized for their hard work. Those coaches are Derrick Martin, Andrea Gandy, Kisha Brown, Fred Hawkins, Brian Levicke, Marcus Cage, and Pat Edmon. These coaches worked together in order to accomplish big goals and help the girls on and off the court.  Every coach wants the girls on their to dream big and know their value. Brumfiel is a big part of the successful Girls basketball season and we congratulate her on the award!
