American/Mexican grand prix

Carlos Orellana

The American Grand Prix started with Max Verstappen in the lead and Hamilton behind. They started off on a mad dash in the beginning with the majority of the racers on the medium tyre. The race began heatedly with Max and Lewis both going into turn 1 side by side. Max tried to push Hamilton a little wide but Hamilton clapped back and drove Max wide and onto the grass, Max recovered however and continued with the race in second. Hamilto has won at America the past 2 times and it seemed like he might this time as well seeing as he got the start he was hoping for. 11 laps later. Max went into the pits for a set of hard tyres, with Hamilton coming in a little later Max was able to get the lead on the race and kept it for the rest of the raceĀ  until the end where managed to win the race by 2.4 seconds.

After a 2 week break for Halloween the next race started up at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez with qualifying the starting positions where determined with Bottas leading, Hamilton second, and Max in third for the start. The race started and the cars were off, however in the first corner Verstappen was just able to pull ahead of both Botta’s and Hamilton and successfully stole the lead. Bottas gets tagged behind by Daniel Riccardo and goes into the grass spinning, the kerfuffle causes Perez to go into the grass and have to cut the corner; however this does not stop him and he continues on. Perez makes a few good overtakes and settles into third behind Hamilton. A few laps later Perez goes into the pits and changes his tires, and after that Hamilton and Verstappen go in. The young Checo Perez gains the lead and for the first time in history a Mexican leads the Mexican Grand prix. Bottas is still in the back and no matter what he tries he can’t seem to get out of the pack in the back still trying his best however. Perez goes into his second pitstop and loses the lead where Verstappen and Hamilton pass, but as the race nears the end Checo and Hamilton battle it out as much as possible but Hamilton is just able to edge out second place with verstappen if first and Checo in third the first Mexican to podium in Mexico.
