Competitive Dance Varsity Coach Interview

Jocelyn Montesinos

Although it is her first year, Chynna Reed, new varsity coach, has already seen great potential and great visuals for the upcoming season. We had the pleasure to get some words from Coach Reed. The team does their best to get the crowd to be loud and supportive of our teams. The team dances in every home basketball game. It is led by Varsity captains; Rachel Dunne, Dejanae Jordan and JV captains; Raeyonna Fields, Sophia Bedolla and Kassidy Underwood. “They all exhibit the characteristics of leaders and we are building on that” says Coach Reed. This team is all about bringing the steelmen spirit everywhere! They are forming bonds with one another and learning from each other. Steelettes are expanding their technical skills and preparing for their next dance levels. The team has 4 upcoming competitions, their first one on this Saturday, December 4th in Minooka where both JV and Varsity teams will be performing lyrical routines. “We are excited to start our competition season this weekend,” says coach Reed. Competitions will also be in Oswego, Lockport, and Fieldcrest. We asked Coach Reed about the team’s expectations and she replied with “The expectation is always the same “Do your best and shine through!” Basketball season is promised to bring the crowds to their feet”. There’s no doubt about that. Steelettes do know to put on a show. It’s exciting to see what the Steelettes have prepared for this year. Coach Reed ends with the quote “Stay tuned and see what the Steelettes do!”
