May 5th and May 6th marked Central’s infamous art show. Over one hundred pieces of art in various forms were selected and put on display from students with skills beyond anyone’s imagination. Art teachers Mrs. Grzyb and Mrs. Urbanik teach six art classes where students create 2D paintings or drawings, and 3D creations including clay and ceramic sculptures, mosaic glass works and sandstone sculptures. The teachers set aside some of the best pieces to be on display for the art show. Throughout the year, Mrs. Grzyb and Mrs. Urbanik pick some of the best pieces and frame them.

Some of the first things you notice when you walk into the room are the tall standing display walls covered in art work. You can find many forms of art as you make your way around the busy room are zentangle, self-portraits, abstract pictures, paint and oils, and even colored pencil. Many 3D pieces like sandstone, clay and ceramic sculptures are on display as well. Detailed drawings of celebrities, stunning self-portraits, intricate zentangle images, and vibrant abstract paintings left students and teachers alike in awe. After everyone made their way around the front room, they head into the even smaller, but still heavily decorated back room, to look at even more beautiful forms of art work. Many pieces by students such as Anthony Coyomani, Morgan Voss, and Edsson Cordova can be seen all over the classroom. While there are plenty of other artists with work on display as well.

At the end of the two day art show, students are able to take home their amazing creations. The wall displays are taken down, and some portraits are framed. Even a dew artistic students are lucky to have their piece or pieces put in the big glass display case just outside the hall. As you walk around the show you can hear teachers and students make comments like “Man, I wish I could draw like that”, and “I can’t believe a high school student did this.” It truly is amazing to see how much hard work some of these young artists put in to their art. Just think, if they’re so great at this level, imagine how amazing they’ll be when they’re older and learned even more techniques. With people left in shock by all the amazing work, students’ pieces are taken down, taken home and framed. All the artists did a wonderful job this year and next year’s art show is greatly anticipated. Teacher, students, and many more can’t wait to be amazed again next year.
