Rock-a-thon

Rock-a-thon

April 28th 2017, the day that the National Honors Society gathered in the student center collaboration rooms once again for Rockathon, to raise money for graduating senior cords, NHS Membership cards for junior members, and scholarships for the top service point earners for seniors. Each participating student was required to bring their own rocking chair that they would be spending the next 24 hours in, and yes Mrs. Sullivan reminded us, “you actually have to rock back and forth…”. However, there was an exception made for students falling asleep. From 7:30 am on Friday morning, until 8:30 pm, all students were to be in a chair rocking while playing games, watching Netflix, doing homework, napping, and/or anything else that was accessible for a rocking chair. At 8:30, dinner was served downstairs in the student center atrium. Following this was the search for a place to take a break from doing nothing, and get some exercise. Since basketball and volleyball at 10 o’clock at night doesn’t exactly suit everyone the large screens in the student center were utilized for entertainment. On one side was the Chicago Bulls unfortunate final game of the season, followed by a movie and some High School Musical sing-alongs. On the other side were video games. With the intentions of staying up all night everyone passed out and was woken at 6:00 am to begin packing and cleaning before 7:00 o’clock came. Each student raised a minimum pledge amount of $24 and 24 hours of memories to end the year.
