The hip-hop/rap album by one of the most well known artists, Drake, released his sixth studio album known as “Certified Lover Boy” on September 3rd of 2021. The album includes 21 tracks total, all songs varying between 2:10-5:30 minutes each and takes a total of roughly 86 minutes to fully listen to. Features on the now platinum album include Lil Baby, Giveon, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, and many more. On the first day of release, the album received 153.4 million streams on the music platform Spotify, breaking the platform’s record for most album streams in one day, while also hitting 89.9 million streams on the second day. Various songs on the album have been frequently featured in hundreds of thousands of videos on the content platform known as TikTok, such as “Champagne poetry”, “Way 2 sexy”, and “Knife Talk”. These songs on the platform blew up for their catchy lyrics and beats, along with dances that followed. On the other hand, the album had a rival competitor. Kanye West’s newly released “Donda”, which was named after Kanye’s now passed mother. Hip-hop fans everywhere wanted to see how the streams from both albums differed because of the ongoing feud against the two rappers. Donda received less streams on the first day of release than CLB, coming in at 94.5 million streams, but passing CLB on the second day, coming in at 102.1 million streams. People’s opinions differ on which album is actually better, not only based on stream but also quality and sound. At the end of the day both albums were major successes and many songs topped the charts and broke records.
