As a kid I had struggles reading and wasn’t able to read properly till a later grade level. I was behind and wasn’t able to enjoy books that my peers were reading but it never stopped my interest. It only made me have the motivation to try harder. I’ve always wanted my work to be read by others, it’s been a personal goal for myself since Elementary school. The JTC Journal had caught my attention in my Freshmen year and I have learned so much in my experience. Being in Journalism has taught me how to work with peers as someone with a form of social anxiety, that can be a lot to handle within itself. I believe Journalism has helped me in many ways unintentionally such as my writing skills, creativity, and socially. I am now in my second year of Journalism and have had such an opportunity within this experience. Opportunities I did not believe I’ve had before. I’ve gained a better understanding of what my writing lacks and have since then put efforts into becoming a better writer.  I create new ideas for upcoming projects that still correlate with my interest, such as my current project being Fashion Journalism. Before joining the JTC I was an avoidant person, I never put efforts into talking to people I didn’t already know, now I am more of an open person to talking to new people. Overall I really enjoy journalism and am so grateful to have the opportunities that have been given to me.
