Red (Taylor’s Version)

Red (Taylors Version)

Melissa Marasco

Singer and songwriter Taylor Swift is recognized as one of the top solo female artists of all time. With a total of seven #1 albums, she is ranked in third place for the number of albums that hit the top of the charts for female artists. She has also received a total of 41 Grammy nominations, and brought home 11 of the awards. Her 2012 album Red won two billboard awards, and earned another one from the American Music Awards. In June 2021, she announced she was re-recording this award-winning album as the second re-recording for her albums.

The country mixed with pop heartbreak album sent fans into a frenzy when it dropped in November. The album included nine “From The Vault” tracks, meaning songs she originally scrapped for the album. With collabs including Phoebe Bridgers, Chris Stapleton, and Ed Sheeran, the album broke records within the first 24 hours it was released. Red earned the title for most Spotify streams on the first day of release. The vocal development between the nine years of the albums released is what really makes Red Taylor’s Version) so phenomenal.

In her best album yet; we hear the melancholy tones of her young heartbreak, the confusion of hurt and betrayal, and the uplifting voices of falling in love. Taylor poured her heart out into these songs, in a way that everyone who listens can feel these emotions for themselves. Her flawless song writing evokes empathy in her listeners, something not all artists can achieve, let alone do that throughout a whole album.

Taylor Swift is recognized as one of the greatest artists of our age, and Red proves that she is worthy of this title. The re-recording made all of us feel happy, free, confused, and lonely all at the same time. Whether you’re a devoted Swiftie or someone isn’t as fond of her music, there is a song on this album for everyone.
